Welcome to the Computer Security and Investigations program (CSI) bulletin board!

This space was created to emulate a “real bulletin board” and avoid overwhelming students with too many emails. It is geared towards servicing future and current students but may act as a resource for anyone interested in CSI.

As program coordinator, my priority is always the welfare of my students: ensuring their success and the quality of our program to keep it in line with the latest trends in the computer security industry.  I consider my students as my own children and thus, treat them as such. Since taking on this position in early 2021, my goals have been to modernize, enhance, update, and energize the program while creating a teamwork and collegiate work culture.

We have already started modernizing and enhancing the program through new partnerships with esteemed industry institutions, CompTIA and EC-Council. To aid students with securing in-demand industry certifications and to enhance student employability potential, we are constantly looking for new opportunities to collaborate with security-focused partners in the field. We have secured discounted coupons and exam vouchers to help those interested in certifications (and made them available to the entire college population) through our current partnerships. Check them out here.

We have an amazing team of highly qualified and talented professors with hundreds of years of combined relevant field and academic experience. Thanks to their dedication to student success and experiences in various sectors of the industry, we can ensure that our students have a well-rounded education and are well-positioned to take on any challenge in the field.

We are actively working with partners, both locally and nationally, to establish relationships for possible student placement and applied project opportunities. These experiential learning opportunities prepare students for the real-world challenges and expectations they’ll face during their careers.

New to the program is the Fleming CSI Club. We created the club to maintain the community and culture of the program in a time where COVID-19 has ravaged the social and college life of our students and community. The club creates opportunities for students to simultaneously participate in experiential learning and aid the community. Students involved with the club are actively raising awareness for cybersecurity while securing local organizations and businesses.

I am happy to report the club has been a massive success, with students making new friends (in and outside the program) and participating in activities never before attempted by the program. These activities include participating in team Capture-the-Flag (CTF) competitions and performing security audits for local businesses. Our most recent accomplishment was securing 2nd place in a national CTF competition open to all universities and colleges in the country. Coming in second place behind the University of British Columbia and ahead of the University of Toronto was an impressive accomplishment for the club’s debut. You can read more about it here. This success has caused us to springboard into new CTF competitions, with plans to host our own event in the future.

Although it is the “Fleming CSI Club”, students from any program in the college are welcomed to join. At its heart, the club is there to support the Fleming community and local communities; a mission every student can contribute to.

We are very proud of our students and wish them all success in the future.

This site will be updated weekly, so please continue to check in to ensure you don’t miss anything.

If you have any questions, concerns, ideas, or suggestions please do not hesitate to contact me, and remember we can’t fix it if no one tells us it’s broken!
